About Royal Canin Academy

Our History

Our History

Veterinarian Jean Cathary founded Royal Canin in France in 1968. Dr. Cathary had the vision of a pet food company grounded in science, a company based on the principles of acquiring knowledge about cats and dogs, always maintaining respect for them and, most importantly, creating advanced cat and dog food made to satisfy the needs of the pet.

Over the last 50 years, thanks to collaborations with external experts from around the world, Royal Canin has not only pioneered discoveries in nutrition, but has also developed an extensive array of content to share this knowledge with veterinary teams and breeders. Examples which remain key references in the field include the Encyclopedias of Clinical Nutrition, Veterinary Focus and the Feline and Canine Pediatric Handbook, to name just a few.

Our objective

Our objective

At Royal Canin, we are convinced that knowledge is the only thing that grows when shared.

That is why the Royal Canin Academy is bringing together, in a free-access online library, all the nutritional and pet health management tools developed by Royal Canin over the past decades.

Accessible through an AI-assisted search bar and available in various formats such as articles, videos, or infographics, the Royal Canin Academy library is designed to assist you, whether you are a veterinarian or nurse, in your everyday work!

Our editorial process

All the content available on Royal Canin Academy go through a rigorous editorial and approval process before being published. When creating new content, our Editorial Committee, composed of veterinarians and board-certified veterinary nutritionists, reaches out to internal or external authors with the necessary expertise to share insightful information with our readers.
